This was put together very quickly this weekend for Fresh Delivery, a night that may re-occur in future. In which case, there’s room for development of the idea of having a new 50s character with every poster.

An idea for a new logo for the Soul Estate. The colours here are from another project I’m currently working on, I liked the combination enough to use it again. It may get re-purposed in the near future…

I’ve been quite inspired by the work by ISO50 aka Scott Hansen, and this was my attempt at trying something along those lines. It’s nowhere near as accomplished, but I guess that’s what practice is all about.

Site >>>]]> I’m fortunate enough to get my webspace provided by the good guys at BWPEB who have been friends of mine since college. Definitely check them out should you need some hosting or a dedicated server. Anyway, as an exercise I mocked up a new design for their site, complete with new logo.

This morning I was thinking back to a time in 2005 when a friend of mine – Dirty Hairy – tried to fix his broken Akai sampler. I think the floppy disk drive had broken and I had a spare, though this may have been a seperate incident – Dirty has had many more Akai mishaps since then. Opening up a sampler or any piece of electronic kit, consumer or otherwise is probably not a great idea. I can’t imagine they have a great number of user-servicable parts. Nevertheless, we had a go and I guess everything went ok as the machine lasted for many years after. I thought back to some photos taken at the time and had the idea to turn it into an advert for a ficticious advert. I was going for something vintage (70s/80s maybe?), and I hope that, for a morning’s work, it is successful!

A current project is the design of stationery and a website for broadcast consultancy Test Valley Broadcast Services. The bulk of the work is still in production and under wraps, but an “under construction” (how nineties) site has been published and can be viewed here.

A (not too) subtle play on the video game Streets of Rage, it depicts two members – Dirty Hairy and Brassik – set against part of the title screen graphics from the game itself. I think it was intended for their MySpace page or perhaps an idea for a website?
